"Pumpa"

Written and Illustrated by Erin Truax

Written in 2014, the book chronicles the journey of navigating the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. The story is of a young girl that sees her grandfather progress through the stages of Alzheimer’s. The book presents a child view of the challenges faced within the daily life of those struggling with dementia, their careworn caregivers and loved ones to support the ailing loved one. The book offers excellent talking points for parent or grandparent trying to explain Alzheimer’s to young children. Elementary school teachers across the country use Pumpa to help explain Alzheimer’s to students.
